Stopped gums from bleeding after tooth extraction

On June 12, my son needed to have two of his teeth extracted! By 3.40pm, both teeth had been pulled out, causing his gums to bleed profusely. Before I left the clinic, I made sure that a fresh piece of cotton was placed on his gum. The dentist said that the cotton had to stay there until 5pm or until the bleeding stopped, whichever would come first.
